Join us to hear from Ami Ayalon, in conversation with Jonathan Freedland.  

Ami Ayalon is the former head of the Shin Bet, Israel's Intelligence Agency and former Commander in Chief of the Israeli navy. He is a recipient of the Medal of Valour, Israel's highest military decoration, given for extreme bravery. Jonathan Freedland is an award-winning writer, broadcaster and journalist.  

Ami Ayalon has been outspoken about his view that a Palestinian state is necessary for Israelis to live in peace and security. As well as heading the Shin Ben and Navy, he has served as a cabinet minster and member of the Knesset. He is one of the founders of Blue & White Future, a non-partisan political movement promoting a two-state solution, and is the author of the memoir ‘Friendly Fire – how Israel became its own worst enemy and its hope for the future’. 

Jonathan Freedland is an award-winning Guardian journalist and columnist for the Jewish Chronicle. Along with a number of other podcasts and radio shows, he presents ‘Unholy’, a weekly podcast with Israeli journalist Yonit Levi, discussing their take on developments in politics and life in Israel. He is the author of a number of books including the award-winning ‘The Escape Artist: The Man Who Broke Out of Auschwitz to Warn the World’.
