Israelis have just voted. What will the result mean for the occupation, for settlement expansion and for any hope of a two-state solution?

Join us for a post-election analysis with two of the leading voices in Israel’s peace and human rights movement: Lior Amihai, Executive Director of Peace Now, and Rabbi Dana Sharon, Head of the Rabbis Network at Rabbis for Human Rights. They will look at what the new political picture means for the West Bank, from settlement building and annexation to settler violence and the daily reality for Palestinian communities. They’ll also talk about what Israeli civil society, and those of us in the UK who care about the possibility of a long term political resolution to the conflict, can do next.

Sunday 22nd November, 7.45pm

About the speakers

Lior Amihai is the Executive Director of Peace Now, Israel’s leading civil society group working through public pressure to end the occupation and advance peace and a negotiated two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians. He has over a decade of experience challenging Israeli settlements through public advocacy, research and legal action. Before leading Peace Now, Lior served as Executive Director of Yesh Din, a human rights organisation promoting accountability for settler violence and land appropriation in the occupied Palestinian Territory. Earlier, he co-led Peace Now’s Settlement Watch project, documenting settlement expansion and its impact on the viability of a two-state solution. Lior holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights from University College London (UCL) and lives in Tel Aviv with his family.

Rabbi Dana Sharon is the Head of the Rabbis Network at Rabbis for Human Rights. Dana holds a degree in literature from the Hebrew University and an MA in contemporary Jewish thought from the Schechter Institute. She was ordained by the Israeli Rabbinic Program of Hebrew Union College (HUC). Dana was Social Media Manager at IRAC for six years and congregational rabbi of the Reform congregation of Gedera for two years. She has taught at HUC in both the Israeli Rabbinic Program and the Year in Israel programme. She is a board member of Women of the Wall, has served as Chairperson of the Jerusalem House for Pride and Tolerance, and has volunteered for the Jerusalem Rape Crisis Center. Dana lives in Kibbutz Nachshon, where she was born and raised, with her life partner Shay and their 4-year-old twins.
